Hi, balsam. you could very well be onto something there. Athletico did Real a huge favour by beating Barca last night. Real Madrid are closing down on Barcelona and with only 2 points in it the La Laiga race is going to go down to the last few games of the season

Richard I totally agree, if you consider Henry for example. Many people could not see a future for Arsenal past Henry's departure to Barcelona. But look at them now, top of the league and have consistently finished in the top four. As you say, Liverpool would do well to cash in at this point and replace him with another good midfielder who is a bit younger. His value will decrease every season, and unless they want to run him into the ground like an old car then they should sell whilst they have the chance this summer and replace him.

Considering Gerrard will soon be 30, he is at the age that Wenger has in the past managed to sell his team's legends just as they pass their peak, cashing in for maximum profit. Right now Gerrard could command maybe £30m, which given his form and injury record over the last two seasons is good value for a sale. He won't be easy to replace, but that's going to be the case if he leaves now or in 3 years time (and there's no guarantee he won't spend a lot of that time in the treatment room). It's something for Liverpool fans to consider, although I'm reckoning he stays, and not many will bet against that.

Hi Jeff I understand that Gerrard is Liverpool FC. That is the problem, it can sometimes be counterproductive, as I said. I am not doubting Gerrards ability or his importance in the Liverpool side, but they do play better without him a lot of the time. I wasn't comparing Gerrard with Lucas, or any other player, just stating that a lot of players for Liverpool look for Gerrard all the time, and the team does not always benefit.

This is BS... Steven Gerrard is Liverpool FC. If Lucas, who has no place on the team, tries to force a pass to Stevie G that is his problem. Gerrard is not replaceable and Liverpool should only worry about losing him to retirement.

Fiorentina starts the new year with great victory by scored 5 goals against Siena. The brilliant starts will keep their morale to this game especially when they play under the home supporters. Viola has a good result at home with 5 won out of 8s. The team will take the first home game in year 2010.

Bari, meanwhile has the best result of them. Although they are promoted team and new in Serie A, this small team is now sitting on 8th position with 27 points, side by side to Fiorentina. Undoubtedly, Bari is a tough nut to be cracked but in only situation when they are host because we can see their weakness when visit.

Fiorentina to win this game with moderate confident.

Without the injured Van Persie and Fabregas whose are the life of the team while Alex Song and Eboue were called for African Cup duty, can Gunners still proceed?

Before this, Wenger's side has been in a rich vein of form since their only home defeat against Chelsea at the end of November. In achieve of it, it is not fully depends on the effort of key players. Others in the team, Wenger and even the youngster sharing to contribute on these. As a result, Arsenal should able to maintain the hot form even if without some key players today. The exploded team morale will bring Gunners a victory against low form Everton who has falling off in this season.
